Putin delivers speech at Valdai Discussion Club

Russian leader highlights special relationship between Russia and India

On 27 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the 19th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.

Putin said during the session at the Valdai Discussion Club that Russia and India have a special relationship.

"India has a huge future behind it. It can be proud of the pace of its development," the president said.

"We are in talks with India, we will develop liquefied natural gas projects," he added.

Russian leader also said that Russia, at India's request, had increased the supply of fertilisers to the country by 7.6 times.

Besides, the head of state noted the wisdom of the Indian Prime Minister's policy.

"One of those people in the world, who is able to conduct an independent foreign policy in the interests of his people. Despite all attempts to restrain or limit something, he is like an icebreaker moving steadily in the right direction for the Indian state," Putin stressed.

In addition, according to the Russian president, Saudi Arabia will to join the BRICS if all other members of the association give their consent.

Talking about the cooperation with Africa, Putin mentioned that Russia is aware of the capabilities of South Africa, is confident in the future of the African continent and will develop relations with all the states in the region.

It should be noted that politicians, diplomats and economists from 41 countries participate in the work of the Valdai Club in 2022.
