Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade takes gold at the Paris Olympics

Rebeca Andrade won four medals at the Paris Olympics and may be winding down her athletic career

Brazilian athlete Rebeca Andrade won a gold medal in the finals of floor exercise in artistic gymnastics. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

She scored 14.166, while her rival, American Simone Biles scored 14.133. This is Andrade's fourth medal at the current Olympics. She won bronze in the team event final, silver in the individual all-around final and silver in the vault.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has already congratulated the gymnast on her Olympic triumph.

"I am in Chile and I have just learnt about Rebeca Andrade's gold in floor exercise, her fourth medal in Paris. Congratulations to our greatest Olympic medallist in history!" the president wrote in a social media post.

Having undergone three knee surgeries, Andrade had earlier said this might be the last competition of this level in her career.

Rebecca Andrade is 25 years old. She entered the sport in 2012 when she competed at the South American Junior Championships. In 2015, the athlete made her World Cup debut. At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she won silver and bronze medals.

The 2024 Olympics kicked off on 26 July. It will run until 11 August. At the moment, Brazilian athletes have won 11 medals: 2 golds, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes. With this result, Brazil is in 16th place in the team standings.
