Indonesia’s manufacturing sector set to create up to 3.6 million jobs in 2025

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector is playing a pivotal role in driving job creation, with investment expected to generate up to 3.6 million new positions by the end of this year, according to Antara News.

Expert Staff of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Fithra Faisal, reported that manufacturing contributes 19 per cent to the national economy and remains a cornerstone of employment growth.

Government data show that around 1.2 million jobs were created in the first half of 2025, with projections pointing to three million by year’s end.

Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Todotua Pasaribu, confirmed that the manufacturing sector continues to absorb the highest number of workers, particularly in labour-intensive industries such as textiles, footwear, food and beverages, electronics, and automotive.
