TV BRICS is an international media network of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) with a potential audience of 3.5 billion people. The mission of TV BRICS is to form a united information space of BRICS countries in order to accelerate the process of economic development and increase the quality of life of the peoples of BRICS, while also showing the BRICS countries to the world by immersing the audience in their traditions, history, culture, sport, economics and modern traditions.
TV BRICS was founded at the initiative of BRICS presidents. The intention to create a united television channel of the five countries was voiced at the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China on 4th September 2017 Today, TV BRICS has a modern multimedia production base that includes studio complexes, an interactive press center, a graphics design studio and mobile newsrooms. We form our own digital content bank about the history, culture, sport and economics of BRICS countries.
TV BRICS currently broadcasts in four languages (Russian, English, Chinese and Portuguese) via the technological base of the TV BRICS international multimedia platform (tvbrics.com).
Since December 2017 we have been testing the “TV BRICS” online mass media outlet. It includes daily 2-hour programs carried by on-air, satellite and cable broadcast networks. The TV BRICS united international editorial board consolidates the leading mass media outlets of BRICS countries. The headquarters is in Moscow. Since launching the project in 2017, the TV BRICS team has created a branched network of PARTNERS. Agreements have been signed with major information agencies of BRICS countries, including:
- China Media Group (including China Radio International, leading information agencies Xinhua and Renmin Ribao);
- South African News Agency;
- Brazilian public television network “TV Cultura”.
In July 2018 a strategic agreement was signed on exchanging information materials between TV BRICS and the United Nations Department of Public Information. The goal of the TV BRICS united international editorial board is the creation of an integrated interactive united media platform and the development of a united information space between the BRICS countries in the spheres of economics, culture and the strengthening of social connections.
In 2018 the TV BRICS special projects editorial board carried out several major projects on creating unique content for leading mass media outlets of BRICS countries. TV BRICS took part in several international film festivals, including: the annual film festival of Chinese films in Russia (in Omsk, Russia), the international film festival in Ulan-Bator (Mongolia), the week of Russian films in Azerbaijan.
In the near future
The development of broadcasting in Russia and beyond is one of the main strategic goals for TV BRICS. This will make the company’s image stronger as a reliable and influential partner; it will increase the media weight of mass media outlets in Russia and will attract more international partners to our network. One of the key goals on this path for us is the acquisition of a broadcasting license with the possibility of retranslating to a group of satellites. Our global strategic goal is to be present in every home in Russia and beyond.
The expansion of the number of members and partners of the TV BRICS united international editorial board is our international priority. The task of forming a united information space is key for us: it will require the attraction of more mass media outlets and the expansion of our audience base.
TV BRICS will be the official information partner of the SOC and BRICS summit in Chelyabinsk, Russia in 2020, where the grand official launch of TV BRICS 24-hour broadcasting by the leaders of the member countries is planned to take place.
The “BRICS MEDIA” Association is a non-profit organization created to protect the rights and common professional interests of the Association members. It contributes to the development of cooperation between mass media outlets of BRICS countries on the basis of common interests. It creates conditions for the formation of a united media space on the territory of BRICS countries.
The official languages of the “BRICS MEDIA” Association are English, Russian, Chinese and Portuguese.
The goals of mass media cooperation between BRICS countries are:
- The coordinated information tracking of BRICS activity;
- The formation of a positive image of Russia in the world;
- The support of specific intergovernmental and entrepreneur programs and projects carried out in the BRICS space;
- The collection, analysis and distribution of information on the results of the activity of BRICS member countries in political, socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres;
- The creation of a working mechanism of cooperation between mass media outlets of BRICS countries for the preparation of information material in the multimedia format.
The “BRICS MEDIA” Association is comprised of national and international partner- members and journalists, unions, professional organizations, committees and other professional groups of mass media workers.
