Cooperation between Russia and China in handball reaches a new level
Russian-Chinese handball cooperation is reaching a new level. The other day, the Russian Handball Federation and the Chinese Handball Association shared the results of their joint work.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Russia in early April and immediately began training. Each country's game is different, but the exchange of experiences has had a positive impact on the level of athletes.
A key achievement at this stage was the establishment of the Chinese Women's Club. It was named "Phoenix". The first games are waiting for athletes from China in the next season of the Russian championship. The new team will be made up of the best female handball players in the country.
"We had a serious selection process in China. Three of the selected handball players have performed well in the recent Asian Games, while the others came to Russia for the first time to compete in the Super League. The average age of the team is 20 years," said Wang Tao, chairman of the Chinese Handball Association.
A signing ceremony was held during the meeting - Chinese handballers Xie Qinglong and Wang Quan will now play for Russian club CSKA under numbers 8 and 12 respectively. They were ceremoniously presented with personalised T-shirts. It won't be long before the players show themselves in their first matches. The cooperation does not stop there - the parties plan to create a Far Eastern League.
"It is necessary to launch something like this first in the student area and then expand further. As we understand, South Korea and Japan are not far from the Far East and could also join this project," said Lev Voronin, general director of the Russian Handball Federation.
Plans for Russian-Chinese cooperation in physical education and sport have been approved for the years 2022-2023. The document currently contains more than 500 sporting events, many of which will take place as early as this summer.
