New Year's Eve on TV BRICS with the "Orpheus" Radio Symphony Orchestra
On New Year's Eve, TV BRICS viewers will enjoy a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the "Orpheus" Radio Symphony Orchestra. The live broadcast of the concert will start at 23:20.
The "Orpheus" Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Kondrashev, will perform popular classical works as well as music from famous films. For example, a composition by Eduard Artemyev from the feature film "Slave of Love" will be played.
The programme features the best examples of world classics - works by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehar, Georges Bizet, Charles François Gounod, Aram Khachaturian and other famous composers. Audiences will also enjoy Pyotr Tchaikovsky's musical masterpiece "Waltz of the Flowers" from "The Nutcracker" ballet, Alexander Borodin's Konchak's aria from the "Prince Igor" opera, and Georgy Sviridov's romance from Pushkin's story "The Snow Storm". Arias from the "Rigoletto" and "La Traviata" operas by Giuseppe Verdi will also delight audiences.
The viewers of the channel will appreciate the famous Meditation from the opera Thais by Jules Massenet as read by virtuoso violinist Sergey Pospelov and Escamillo's well-known couplets from the opera Carmen performed by soloist Dmitry Cheblykov.
The concert was attended by diplomats and business people from the BRICS countries and the African continent. Vicente de Jesus Manuel, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in the Russian Federation, shared his impressions: "Music is part of the country's culture. You can use music to tell people a lot, regardless of whether the listener is African, Latin American or Asian. It is a universal language that everyone can understand".
In turn, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Federative Republic of Brazil in the Russian Federation noted that in his country they love Russian classical music: "Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev... We know and listen to the works of Russian composers".
The Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in the Russian Federation Tandive Mgkswati also praised the concert: "It's delightful and very emotional! For me, as someone who is really in love with classical music, this performance is one of the best I have ever heard".
