Russia and Thailand step up space cooperation
In the near future, Russia and Thailand may begin active cooperation in the field of space. Moscow and Bangkok are already preparing relevant bilateral agreements. This was reported by TASS, quoting the Russian ambassador to Thailand, Evgeny Tomikhin, on Russia-24 TV channel.
He noted that Thailand is striving to be a self-sufficient state, developing various sectors of production and science. According to the diplomat, cooperation with this Asian country in the space sector is not a new direction for Russia.
"We have been interacting with Thai partners for quite a long time. Bilateral documents are now being prepared between our Roscosmos and the relevant agency in Thailand," the ambassador said.
In addition, Tomikhin mentioned that Thailand is an important investor in the Russian agricultural industry. "The Thai side continues to consider new directions, including investing in our economy, in agriculture," the diplomat stressed. He added that seafood could become such a direction.
According to the Russian ambassador, trade between Russia and Thailand last year amounted to about $3 billion.
It should be recalled that during the APEC-2022 Business Summit in Bangkok, which ended the day before, Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, said it was necessary to fundamentally review the approaches to cooperation with Thailand by embarking on joint high-tech projects. He noted that the country has enormous potential in several areas besides tourism, being a global innovation and industrial hub.
