South African authorities called for creation of BRICS free trade zone
This will promote trade relations within the alliance
According to Musa Mbhele, head of the South African city of Durban, the BRICS countries should create a free trade zone. He said this in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
As Musa Mbhele pointed out, such a decision would promote trade relations within the alliance.
The South African official added that the partnership between Russia and South Africa has always been strong, and the two countries' membership in the BRICS has only strengthened cooperation. The Durban chief of staff also said he would like to know more about the opportunities offered by the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB).
"We have not yet approached this entity, but I would like to know more about the opportunities this development bank offers. I can assure you that, thanks to BRICS, our relations are only getting stronger," he stressed.
In addition, the South African official suggested that the next BRICS summit should be held in Durban. The city is referred to as the 'gateway to Africa', as this is where most cargo from South Africa to other countries is shipped from.
