UAE achieves top global position in telecom infrastructure
The UAE has topped the UN global rankings for telecoms infrastructure, digital governance and digital knowledge
The United Arab Emirates has been ranked number one in the world in a number of key digital development indicators, including telecoms infrastructure, digital government and digital content.
The data is presented in the second edition of the “State of Digital Transformation Report”, published by the UAE's UAE’s Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation during the recent Digital Readiness Retreat.
The document covers the government's achievements in 12 strategically important sectors including economy, health, education, energy, logistics, justice, and others.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future in the UAE Government and Chair of the Committee, states that digital transformation is at the core of the country's development strategy to improve efficiency and quality of life through technology. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the report, the UAE topped the UN's global rankings for telecoms infrastructure, digital governance and digital knowledge. The country ranked in the top 5 in several other international indices, including public service delivery and digital maturity in governance.
Today, 1,419 digital public services are available in the country. More than 57 million users have already taken advantage of them, and 460 digital transformation projects are currently underway at the federal level.
In the economy, over 5.2 million tax transactions have been processed, while in healthcare, 2 million electronic prescriptions have been issued and over 400,000 remote consultations have been conducted.
The report highlights that digitalisation has affected everything from employment and education to cultural initiatives and environmental protection, cementing the UAE's status as one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world.
