An exhibition of crockery in Khokhloma painting by modern craftsmen opens in Moscow
Khokhloma appeared in the 17th century in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Thanks to contemporary artisans, this unique art is still very much alive today. The exhibition at the Russian State Art Library features Khokhloma-painted crockery. The artists express their intention through three colours: black, red and gold. But for the colours to shine, the crockery has to go through more than 50 processing stages. More in our story.
