Raj Kapoor is an Indian cinema legend. The actor and director is considered one of the founding fathers of Bollywood. His popularity has reached the Soviet Union as well.
Kapooromania began in the country immediately after the first release "Tramp" (Awaara) in 1959. It has been successfully launched on the big screen for four times. It grossed a total of almost 64 million viewers at the box office in the USSR. But this was far from Kapoor's only success in the Union.
In 1972 the film "My Name is Joker" (Mera Naam Joker) was released, with ballet dancer and Bolshoi Theatre soloist Ksenia Ryabinkina taking part in the production. The documentary "To India with Love" is her memoirs of the man who is called "the king of Indian cinema".
