BRICS Summer School to be held in Durban, South Africa

Participants aged 18-35 will take part in the event from 21-25 November

The BRICS Summer School will take place in Durban, South Africa, from 21 to 25 November at the Durban University of Technology. The event to be held in-person. The theme is "The BRICS bloc in the New Era of Development".

The Xiamen Declaration, adopted after the 2017 BRICS Summit, highlights the importance of people-to-people exchanges in advancing development and strengthening mutual understanding, friendship, and collaboration among BRICS peoples. It is necessary to encourage not only greater cultural understanding, but also cross-regional cooperation among BRICS citizens, that's why SABYA supports the establishment of platforms and institutions that seek to build the capacity of youth on BRICS affairs.

The objectives of the Summer school are to provide youth from BRICS with the opportunity to meaningfully participate in BRICS affairs, foster mutual respect and common understanding between BRICS Youth, strengthen youth cooperation between BRICS youth on various issues affecting youth and identify common interests for further collaborations.

More than 50 participants from BRICS nations who have an interest in BRICS affairs and international relations, will take part in the event, including entrepreneurs, researchers, youth activists, diplomats, policy developers, scientists, and academics.

The BRICS Summer School participants are required to be aged between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of the event.

South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) will provide accommodation and meals during the period of the school for all participants and provide visa application support and assistance with issuing a permission to enter South Africa for international participants who are required to acquire a visa.

The event will be organised in compliance with South African health and COVID-19 Regulations. It's possible to apply till 10 October, 2022.

TV BRICS is a media partner of the upcoming event.
