Ethiopia highlights success on country's digital transformation

Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy aims to create an inclusive and prosperous digital future for Ethiopia, building on the successes of ongoing initiatives

Ethiopia's Innovation and Technology Minister Belete Molla underscored Ethiopia's significant progress in advancing its digital landscape. He noted that the internet has become an essential tool for economic growth, social development, and communication. Cross-border digital connections, he added, empower individuals and spur innovation. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

"Ethiopia has achieved impressive milestones in expanding telecom infrastructure," Minister Belete said at the Internet Development Conference (IDC).

Key accomplishments include the expansion of telecom infrastructure, with 4G coverage now reaching 34.8 per cent of the population and 5G services launched in 14 towns.

The minister also announced Ethiopia's ambitious Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy, which seeks to build on current successes to create a truly inclusive and prosperous digital future for the nation.
