In Brazil, sales of electric cars may increase to almost 65% by 2035
In Brazil, the share of sales of cars with electric motors can reach 65% of the total car sales in the country by 2035. Data from a joint study by BCG and the Brazilian National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers demonstrates this.
At the same time, it is noted that experts have different percentage estimates of possible electric vehicle sales, as those can be influenced by many factors. In various scenarios, electric vehicles will account for 12% to 22% of total car sales in Brazil in 2030 and from 32% to 62% in 2035.
According to preliminary estimates, achieving such results will require R$ 150 billion (about $ 29 billion) of investments over the next 15 years.
The investments will need to be directed to the electric vehicles technology, manufacturing and infrastructure development sectors.
We will remind - according to a study conducted earlier by Canalys analytical company, electric vehicle sales in 2020 increased by 39% compared to 2019 and reached 3.1 million units globally. According to experts, electric vehicle sales will continue to increase throughout the decade. Canalys predicts that electric vehicles will account for 48% of all new cars sold in 2030.
