Putin warned G20 leaders about the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic

More than 414 thousand people have been infected in the world

Vladimir Putin spoke at the G20 Virtual Summit and announced measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. The correspondent of tvbrics.com reports with reference to RIA Novosti.

The Russian leader proposed to develop a general plan to restore the world economy, which was affected by the coronavirus, as well as to suspend existing restrictions on the supply of important goods.

"To create the so-called green corridors free from trade wars and sanctions for mutual supplies of medicines, food, equipment and technology," said Putin.

The Russian leader suggested focusing the WHO efforts on identifying hidden epidemics of a new infection in countries where it is not possible to test for COVID-19.

Putin also warned about the main threat during the pandemic. According to the Russian President, the world is in danger of shocks on a larger scale than the crisis of 2008-2009. At the same time, trade sanctions exacerbate only what is happening. The world may face long-term unemployment.

In this regard, Vladimir Putin called on the G20 countries to join forces and establish data exchange to speed up the development of coronavirus vaccines.

In the final statement, the G20 leaders affirmed their commitment to cooperate for combating COVID-19. In particular, countries will exchange data on the virus and share materials needed for research. The summit participants intend to allocate more than five trillion US dollars to combat the pandemic.

Recall that on March 11, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 a pandemic. As of March 26, more than 414 thousand people were infected worldwide. More than 18 thousand people fell victims of coronavirus.
