Scientific conference in São Paulo discusses the potential of Chinese medicine

The event focused on state policy on Chinese medicine

The 19th World Congress of Chinese Medicine concluded in São Paulo. The event, organised by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, was attended by more than 400 professionals.

"The unique concept of Chinese medicine contains the profound philosophy of our nation, which has positively influenced not only the progress of Chinese civilisation, but also world progress in general," said Chen Peijie, Chinese Consul General in São Paulo.

Under the theme "Promoting the Global Development of High-Quality Chinese Medicine Contributing to the Well-Being of the World", the scientific conference was devoted to the state policy in the field of Chinese medicine and acupuncture treatment.

"Fifteen years ago I had the opportunity to visit Shandong University and do part of my training in traditional Chinese medicine there. Since then I have been promoting traditional Chinese medicine in Brazil, especially in São Paulo. I believe that this direction can contribute to the expansion of treatment options for patients," said Mariana Cabral Schweitzer, professor at the Federal University of São Paulo.

According to Paulo Gonçalves, a Brazilian acupuncturist, traditional Chinese medicine can improve basic health care for Brazilian people. In the local medical system, patients usually wait several months for a minor ailment to be treated, and the use of traditional Chinese medicine can speed up the process.

During the event, Chinese medicine experts, scientists and entrepreneurs shared their theoretical research and clinical experience, scientific research results, as well as new inventions and creations. The conference also included an exhibition of products and services related to Chinese medicine. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of the TV BRICS network.
