Sergey Lavrov: relations between Russia and India form privileged strategic partnership
Talks were held in Moscow between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, and the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The sides focused primarily on preparations for the forthcoming visit of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to India for the annual Russia–India summit.
Sergey Lavrov described relations between the countries as a strategic priority in the field of foreign policy. His remarks are quoted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We can boast impressive results and, arguably, have even more favourable prospects in energy, industry, agriculture. [...] We closely cooperate on the international stage, including within the UN, BRICS, the SCO, and the G20. Without a doubt, our interaction contributes to strengthening regional and global stability and enhancing the effectiveness of these groups and organisations"![]()

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, for his part, confirmed the importance of holding the forthcoming Russia–India summit. He also stated that the Republic is actively preparing for the visit of Vladimir Putin to India. The Indian minister also reported on the practical results of cooperation.
"At present, a number of bilateral agreements, initiatives and projects in various fields are under consideration. We expect them to be completed in the coming days. […] India–Russia relations have long been a factor of stability in international affairs. Their development and strengthening serve not only our mutual interests but also the interests of the entire world"![]()

The meeting was held during the participation of the Minister of External Affairs of India in the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council member states in Moscow. This is already the sixth meeting between the heads of the foreign ministries of Russia and India this year.
