St. Petersburg to launch direct flights to Beijing
St. Petersburg, after nearly three years, will resume direct flights to Beijing on 19 February. The information was provided by the Pulkovo Airport Press Service.
One of the largest airlines of the People's Republic of China, Hainan Airlines will operate the flights using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, as reported by TASS.
In order to travel to the Asian country, there must be taken a PCR test for COVID-19 no more than 48 hours before boarding the plane.
Experts believe that this year the city can count on about 300,000 tourists from the PRC (20 percent of the 2019 level), taking into account all possible options for visitors from China. According to experts, a recovery of the tourist flow should not be expected before 2024.
There is currently a flight from the Northern Capital to the Chinese city of Chengdu once a week.
The Chinese authorities eased the anti-covid restrictions at the beginning of this year. Three years after the start of the pandemic, many border crossings between Russia and China have resumed operations. China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism also announced the launch of tourist trips for organised groups to Russia from 6 February.
