The 7th BRICS Culture Ministers Meeting was held on 24 May
The 7th BRICS Culture Ministers' Meeting was held on 24 May, organised by the People's Republic of China via videoconference with representatives from all BRICS member countries, as reported on the official website of the Government of India.
The discussion was held for advancement and expansion of cultural activities among the BRICS countries under the theme “Establishing a Cultural Partnership Featuring Inclusiveness and Mutual Learning among BRICS”.
The main areas of discussion were the promotion of development and cooperation in the digitalisation of culture, strengthening cooperation in the protection of cultural heritage and promoting the creation of cultural exchange platforms between the BRICS countries.
The Ministers adopted the BRICS Action Plan 2022-2026 to further strengthen cultural cooperation and implement the BRICS Cultural Cooperation Agreement signed in 2015.
At the end of the meeting, the Action Plan for the Implementation of the BRICS Agreement on Cultural Cooperation (2022-2026) was agreed upon and signed by the Ministers of Culture of all BRICS countries.
TV BRICS International Media Network also promotes cultural activities between the BRICS countries.
For example, TV BRICS International Media Network organised special screenings of documentary films produced by the BRICS countries at international film festivals. The films about the life, history, and culture of the BRICS countries were screened exclusively at the “One People International Film Festival” (OPIFF) in South Africa, Russia, “Golden Tower” in Ingushetia, and “Rendezvous with Russia” festival, at the International Innovative Film Festival in Bangalore (India), the BRICS Film Festival at the University of Latin America in Brazil in 2021.
In addition, TV BRICS regularly hosts special television exclusive showings of programmes and films.
The International Media Network actively participated in the development of cultural ties between the BRICS countries. TV BRICS International Media Network together with the Moscow International Multimedia Centre held "Days of South Africa", an event that included a photo exhibition by a South African photographer showcasing the landscapes and everyday lives of South Africans.
