Chinese zither: instrument captivating Russian musicians
Nina Starostina is the first Russian woman to play the guqin professionally.
A graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire, she has mastered this ancient musical instrument of poets and emperors, whose sound, according to an ancient treatise, embodied “all music”. The musician has under her belt internships with legendary Chinese masters, dozens of concerts in Russia and China, as well as the creation of her own compositions.
