Tribute to outstanding ballerina: Ballet Don Quixote at Bolshoi Theatre

People’s Artist of the USSR Nadezhda Pavlova has been on the Bolshoi stage for half a century – she joined the company in 1960, when it was celebrating its 200th anniversary, and was immediately appointed a principal dancer. The ballerina was congratulated on her anniversary before the start of the performance of Don Quixote.

How is Nadezhda Pavlova’s creative journey linked to this ballet? What makes the leading female role in this ballet so challenging? Why do the artists always look forward to seeing it on the programme?
