Boosting cultural diplomacy: Venezuela and Russia hold 4th Russian Language Congress
At the new headquarters of the Russian House in Caracas the 4th Venezuelan Congress of the Russian Language was held, with the participation of around one hundred attendees from various fields. On this occasion, through working groups, proposals were generated to consolidate Russian-Venezuelan integration.
At this event, the president of the Russian House in Caracas, Andrey Pakhomov, stated: "The doors of the Russian House are open to all of you, to everyone willing to work with us because we already have a lovely space, but we need to fill it with cultural and educational activities. We cannot wait; we must start working now."
Meanwhile, Ruben Dario Gutierrez, a specialist in Russian literature, emphasised that: "One important thing we observe is that Russian culture is becoming increasingly significant in our country. We see how courses in the Russian language are held in various places, both in Caracas and other cities across the country. There is a close relationship between the two countries, and it is no coincidence that the Governments of Venezuela and Russia have signed more than 400 cooperation agreements to date, notably in the fields of education, oil, sports, and the economy."
Gutierrez also pointed out that "there is significant interest from the Russian economic sector in developing economic activities in the country, as well as from Venezuelan entrepreneurs to export their products to Russia."
Additionally, the specialist added that "we have heard how Venezuelan cocoa has been awarded in the Eurasian giant, which encourages us to export to this vast nation."
In this regard, Pablo Candurin, president of the Venezuelan-Russian Economic Cooperation Chamber (CAVERUS), stated: "We are here at the fourth Congress of the Russian Language, highlighting the potential of the Russian language for everyday life and business. Knowing Russian is a guarantee that your company will be able to do business in Russia and vice versa."
Dr Juan Miguel Diaz Ferrer, founder of the International Movement of Russophilia in Venezuela, also highlighted: "What is perceived here is progress; there is greater participation and diversity, with many young people interested in Russian culture and language."
Professor Ferrer also echoed the words of President Nicolas Maduro: "We are in a new stage of friendship with Russia following the signing of the recent agreement between both countries; it is already a very powerful platform."
Ferrer concluded by reaffirming that "we must also bring Venezuelan culture to Russia, which creates synergy and enables cultural diplomacy between the two nations."
It is worth noting that the binational alliance between the South American nation and the Eurasian giant is consolidated by 80 years of diplomatic relations, with various events held in the South American country celebrating the cultural richness of both nations.
