Dubai introduces AI-powered control system for real-time bus network management
New smart platform improves service reliability, operational efficiency and sustainability across public transport
Dubai has launched an advanced artificial intelligence-powered control system to optimise the operation of its public bus network in real time, marking another step in the Emirate’s strategy to expand the use of digital technologies in urban mobility, reports Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The new system, deployed at the city’s bus operations control centre, uses advanced data analytics and AI tools to monitor performance, support operational decision-making, and improve service management across the transport network.
According to transport authorities, the initiative has already delivered measurable results. Early bus departures have been reduced by more than 68 per cent, while operational performance has remained in line with international standards. The system has also enhanced response times during service disruptions by enabling the rapid deployment of additional buses when required and improving passenger communication through automated notification systems.
The platform integrates a range of intelligent applications, including real-time route performance monitoring, AI-based prediction of service cancellations and rapid-response mechanisms for transport interruptions. The solutions have been fully incorporated into the daily activities of the city’s transport control centre, supporting a more proactive and data-driven operating model.
Authorities also highlighted the environmental benefits of the initiative. Smart sustainability tools designed to optimise bus parking operations and reduce unnecessary engine idling have contributed to a reduction of more than 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
