Malaysia leads international visitor arrivals to Indonesia in first half of 2026
Indonesia welcomes a record 7.45 million foreign tourists for the January–June period, with Malaysia remaining its largest inbound travel market

Malaysia remained the leading source of international visitors to Indonesia during the first half of 2026, as reported by BERNAMA, a TV BRICS partner.
Official statistics show that 7.45 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia between January and June, representing the highest first-half total recorded since 2020. International arrivals increased by 5.71 per cent compared with the same period last year, reflecting sustained growth in inbound travel demand.
Malaysian passport holders accounted for the largest share of overseas visitors, contributing 18.66 per cent of total international arrivals. Indonesia also recorded 1.39 million international arrivals in June. Although the monthly total rose 0.32 per cent compared with May, it remained 2.15 per cent below the level recorded in June 2025.
The latest figures underline Indonesia's continued recovery as one of Southeast Asia's leading tourism destinations, supported by strong regional travel demand and sustained cross-border mobility. Tourism authorities expect regional markets to remain a key driver of international visitor growth throughout the remainder of 2026.
