Indonesia's president proposes doubling trade turnover with Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a business breakfast in Vladivostok. Subianto arrived in the Russian city as an honorary guest of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum. This was reported by ANTARA.
The Russian leader described Indonesia as one of Russia's partners in Southeast Asia and stressed that bilateral relations between the two countries are strategic in nature. His remarks were published on the Kremlin website.
Subianto congratulated his Russian counterpart on the successful Russia–ASEAN summit held to mark the 35th anniversary of the format. He noted that relations between the two countries have lasted for more than 50 years. Subianto also expressed confidence that participation in the Eastern Economic Forum would strengthen regional cooperation, particularly in the maritime sector and connectivity.
"Our cooperation can become the foundation for long-term and effective trade. The results are already tangible. Last year, in 2025, bilateral trade reached US$5 billion," the Indonesian leader said, speaking at the forum's plenary session.
He said that trade turnover had increased by 22 per cent and proposed doubling the figure. To further expand trade, he said, effective payment and logistics systems need to be established. Subianto called on Russian companies to come to Indonesia for joint production and also confirmed the country's interest in supplies of Russian grain, fertilisers and energy resources.
In addition, the Indonesian leader said that this was his fifth personal meeting with Putin and invited him to visit Indonesia in return.
