Xi Jinping calls on SCO to promote global governance
The Chinese President noted the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's significant development potential

China is ready to work with all parties to build a fairer and more equitable system of global governance, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the SCO Plus meeting in Bishkek. His remarks were reported by Xinhua News Agency, a TV BRICS partner.
According to the Chinese leader, the SCO should actively shape the course of history by promoting economic globalisation that benefits all and is inclusive, strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, transport and energy, and expanding engagement in emerging areas, including artificial intelligence (AI), the digital economy, green industries and environmentally friendly mineral extraction.
China will work with other SCO countries to establish an international centre for cooperation on AI applications, set up an economic cooperation centre for the port sector in Tianjin, and implement 100 technological cooperation projects with other SCO member states over the next three years.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO's establishment. The Chinese President noted that over the past 25 years, its main achievement has been its gradual transformation into a new type of regional cooperation organisation that covers the world's largest geographical area, brings together the largest share of the global population and has enormous development potential.
