World-renowned international nuclear research centre to present its work on TV BRICS

TV BRICS is expanding its coverage in the global media space of the scientific and technological potential of BRICS member and partner states. The International Intergovernmental Research Organisation Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) has become the international media network's new partner in this area. In 2026, the organisation marks its 70th anniversary. The world-renowned scientific centre studies the fundamental properties of matter, conducts applied research, develops cutting-edge technologies using nuclear physics methods and trains highly qualified specialists. The cooperation agreement was signed by JINR Director and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov and TV BRICS CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova.

The partners' cooperation is aimed at strengthening BRICS+ countries' collaboration in science, technology and innovation, developing international expert communities, promoting scientific knowledge and enhancing the prestige of scientific work.

“The signing of the cooperation protocol between JINR and TV BRICS is a completely natural and timely step for our organisations, whose activities are aimed at developing multilateral international cooperation in a wide range of areas and strengthening mutual understanding and trust among peoples of different countries. The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is an international intergovernmental research organisation with 70 years of experience in integrating the scientific potential of many countries to conduct multidisciplinary research and is one of the largest of its kind in the world. The overwhelming majority of BRICS member and partner states are represented among the member states and partners of our institute. Overall, scientific organisations from several dozen countries participate in the Institute's research projects based on its modern large-scale research infrastructure. The life of our institute is rich in significant events that may be of interest to the multimillion-strong audience of the TV BRICS International Media Network. I am confident that the signing of this document will lay a solid foundation for fruitful long-term cooperation between JINR and TV BRICS,” said JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov.

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was registered with the UN in 1957. It is located in Dubna (Russian Federation). Today, JINR has 15 member states, while eight countries have cooperation agreements with the Institute at the government level. The Institute maintains ties and conducts joint activities with hundreds of research organisations and universities in dozens of countries, as well as with major international organisations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, UNESCO and CERN. JINR comprises seven laboratories, each of which is comparable in research scale to a major academic institute. JINR has a unique complex of experimental physics facilities. These include the NICA collider, designed to study the properties of dense baryonic matter; the Superheavy Element Factory, a new-generation cyclotron complex for synthesising new elements of the periodic table; the Baikal-GVD, the largest deep-underwater neutrino telescope in the Northern Hemisphere; and the IBR-2 pulsed fast-neutron reactor, used for research in neutron nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, materials science, life sciences and ecology. At the core of its computing infrastructure is a multifunctional information and computing complex comprising cloud and grid infrastructure, a central cluster and the high-performance HybriLIT platform with the Govorun supercomputer. Its status as an international intergovernmental organisation underlines the full openness of its infrastructure and the accessibility of JINR research programmes to the global scientific community.

TV BRICS CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova emphasised that cooperation with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research will raise the profile of scientific and technological progress and strengthen the international media network's expert activities.

“Cooperation in science, technology and innovation is one of the priorities of BRICS and TV BRICS' editorial policy. In 2026, we have focused on bringing together sectoral expertise and creating a unified analytical space for the member and partner states of the group. The scientific findings, research and rankings presented by the media network are aimed at developing cooperation among BRICS+ countries in specific fields of knowledge and strengthening interstate cooperation. Bringing JINR, a key player in the global scientific agenda, into the TV BRICS media space will help promote fundamental research and the practical application of its results, contribute to bringing together the international scientific community and support the training of a new generation of scientists,” said TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova.

To bring together leading specialists and respected figures in various fields of knowledge, the international media network's portal has created the Experts project. To promote the latest technological developments and scientific achievements made in Russia internationally, the international media network launched the Laboratorium television programme series. The project was presented to participants of the 4th Young Scientists Congress and the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum, which were held with media support from TV BRICS.
