Iran reports US$60 billion in trade with BRICS countries and plans to expand economic ties
Tehran aims to develop transport, trade and financial cooperation

Iran conducts annual trade with BRICS countries worth around US$60 billion. This was announced by Deputy Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organisation Mohammad Sadegh Ghanadzadeh. His remarks were reported by IRNA, a TV BRICS partner.
Iranian exports to the group’s countries account for around US$23 billion, while imports from BRICS countries amount to US$37 billion.
Ghanadzadeh noted that Iran continues to actively participate in BRICS economic events. This presence should be used to further expand trade ties.
At the latest BRICS Summit, discussions focused on the development of international transport corridors, trade expansion, financial cooperation and mechanisms for mutual settlements. Iran expressed its readiness to participate in implementing these areas. The report also highlights the development of transit routes, simplification of trade procedures, coordination of customs operations and improvement of payment mechanisms among the priorities.
