Digital economy drives Ghana's GDP growth to 6% in second quarter of 2026

Information and communication technology became the main driver of growth

The digital economy drove Ghana's gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 6 per cent in the second quarter of 2026. Within the services sector, information and communication technology led the way, growing by 30.9 per cent year on year compared with 21.3 per cent a year earlier. This was reported by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), a TV BRICS partner.

According to a representative of the Ghana Statistical Service, in real terms the country produced goods and services worth 51.3 billion Ghanaian cedis (approximately US$4.48 billion) in the second quarter of 2026. In the same period of 2025, the figure stood at 48.4 billion Ghanaian cedis (approximately US$4.22 billion).

Growth is being recorded in Ghana's services sector. Among its segments, information and communication technology has shown steady growth over the past three years, experts note.
