Presidents of Russia and Brazil hold telephone conversation

At the initiative of the Brazilian side, President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This was reported on the Kremlin website.

The two heads of state discussed the further development of bilateral relations across a range of areas. Particular attention was given to the outcomes of the meeting of the Russian-Brazilian High-Level Commission on Cooperation, which took place in Brasilia earlier this year.

Vladimir Putin and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva also reaffirmed that Russia and Brazil share identical or closely aligned positions on many key issues on the global agenda. The presidents agreed to continue coordinating their efforts within the United Nations and other multilateral forums.

Earlier, the 13th Plenary Session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Brazilian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Brasilia. The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary-General of Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha, and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maksim Reshetnikov. The parties agreed to expand trade across various sectors, launch joint projects, and strengthen coordination within international organisations, including BRICS.
