BRICS lawyers to discuss the development of digital technologies
The IX BRICS Legal Forum will be held in the Russian capital on 19-20 September at the MGIMO University. It will be attended by representatives of the legal communities of Brazil, India, China, South Africa, as well as Egypt, Iran, UAE and Ethiopia.
In addition to the members of the association, lawyers from Vietnam and Uzbekistan have been invited to the forum as observers.
The main theme of the meeting is "Law: Safeguarding a Fair World". The event is organised by the Russian Federal Bar Association, MGIMO University and Kutafin Moscow State Law University. TV BRICS is the international media partner of the event.
The meeting will include a plenary session and a number of sessions devoted to law and digital technologies, legal education, legal mechanisms for resolving commercial issues and other topics. There will also be discussions supported by Russian agencies, including the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Human Rights Ombudsman.
"I am confident that the forum will contribute to strengthening co-operation between the participating countries," said Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO University.
Chairman of the Russian Federal Bar Association Sergey Stepashin, in turn, noted that the planned event is a unique opportunity to exchange judicial practice. According to him, the dialogue of legal communities will contribute to the implementation of joint projects of the BRICS countries.
Speakers at the forum will include Russian and Egyptian Justice Ministers Konstantin Chuichenko and Adnan Al-Fangari, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, as well as representatives of legal societies and bar associations from BRICS countries.
The event has been held annually since 2014. This time it will be held within the framework of Russia's BRICS chairmanship.
