China's economy grew up by 5.2 per cent in 2023

Premier Li Qiang made the announcement at the World Economic Forum

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has assured the world that China's economy will grow steadily thanks to a solid and reliable industrial base and factors of production.

China's economy is estimated to grow by about 5.2 per cent in 2023, above the official target of five per cent.

"The overall long-term growth trend will not change. It will provide a continuous strong impetus for economic development around the world," he added.

The prime minister also highlighted the development of large-scale growth drivers in areas such as new-type urbanisation and green transition. It will boost global trade and investment, he said.

China will steadily expand institutional openness and further develop a world-class market-oriented business environment, he added.

To maintain the stability and smoothness of global industrial and supply chains, Li called for strengthening industrial specialisation and resolutely pushing forward trade and investment liberalisation. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

After his speech, the prime minister answered questions from Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum. The questions centred on the management of artificial intelligence. Li also said that true multilateralism should be built on basic norms based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
