China's short track team wins its 100th gold medal at World Championships in Rotterdam
The victory of short tracker Sun Long in the men's 1500m final at the World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, brought the 100th gold medal for the Chinese national team in the history of the tournament. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Other short trackers from China – Lin Xiaojun, Liu Shaolin, Liu Shaoang – also won the men's heats at different distances, earning three more gold medals.
Among the women's 1500m race, China's Gong Li reached the final but failed to win a medal. Athletes Fan Kexin and Wang Ye, competing in the 500m race, reached the semi-finals.
The Chinese short track team is one of the country's most decorated teams in winter sports. Many outstanding athletes have distinguished themselves over the past few decades, the publication said.
The most prominent among them was Yang Yang, China's first short track speed skating gold medallist at the Winter Olympics, who also won 32 medals at various world championships.
