Egypt invests US$184 million to support farmers and boost livestock production

Egypt allocated approximately US$184 million under the National Veal Project. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, recently approved around US$5.9 million to support 428 small-scale farmers and recent graduates. The total project funding will enable the acquisition of 4,280 head of cattle as part of the presidential "Decent Life" initiative, which aims to improve rural living standards.

To date, the project has benefitted about 44,400 farmers, facilitating the breeding and fattening of over 514,000 cattle, including beef calves and high-yield dairy heifers. This effort ensures a consistent supply of meat and dairy products, contributing to market stability.

The Ministry of Agriculture is collaborating with local agricultural and veterinary directorates to provide field support and veterinary care and to address any challenges faced by beneficiaries.
