A new China-Africa-UNIDO Centre of Excellence has opened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The initiative marks a significant step in the China-UNIDO-Ethiopia partnership for advancing African development. This is reported by Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), a partner of TV BRICS.
A collaboration between China, Ethiopia, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the centre is designed to promote sustainable industrialisation, boost agricultural modernisation, and advance skills development across the African continent.
Hosted at the Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute, the opening ceremony saw attendance from senior Ethiopian government officials, Chinese diplomats, and high-ranking UNIDO representatives. UNIDO Director General Gerd Muller highlighted the centre’s role in delivering advanced technologies in agriculture, renewable energy, and digitalisation, which will benefit Ethiopia and extend to other African nations.
Muller praised the strong collaboration between China, UNIDO, and Ethiopia in launching the centre swiftly, underscoring its potential to drive development and contribute to the fight against hunger across Africa. The centre is set to facilitate the transfer of critical technology and skills, accelerating Africa’s progress towards sustainable growth and self-reliance.
