Iran wants to strengthen ties with BRICS and SCO
Iran believes it is important to develop cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, which will play an important role in the world economy in the near future, told Ehsan Khandouzi, the Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance, as reported by Brasil247, a partner of TV BRICS.
"Regional agreements, especially with important regional partners like SCO and BRICS - this is what the world economy will promote on the shoulders of these economic giants in the coming decades," noted Khandouzi.
The minister also stated that Iran and Russia are interested in Tehran becoming a strategic economic centre, and that the parties have reached full consensus on this issue.
"Although the US is not interested in Iran becoming a strategic economic centre, Iran and Russia have reached a full consensus on this issue," stressed Khandouzi.
On 15 September, 2022, Iran signed a memorandum in Samarqand on its intentions to become a member of the SCO, and on 25 January this year, the Iranian parliament passed a bill on Iran's membership in the organisation.
