Iranian engineers create intelligent robot to clean beaches of plastic
New development automates waste collection and draws attention to the problem of marine pollution
A young team of Iranian developers has unveiled an innovative waste collection robot capable of automatically removing recycled waste from sea coasts. The project aims to protect the environment and combat plastic waste pollution on beaches.
According to Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS, the device is equipped with a rotating brush that removes debris from the surface of the sand, and the brush is powered by a DC motor. Navigation and obstacle detection are provided by four ultrasonic sensors.
The creators emphasise that their goal is not only to clean up the coastline, but also to draw public attention to the scale of plastic pollution in the oceans. According to the UN, more than 11 million tonnes of plastic waste ends up in the ocean every year, much of which reaches open waters via beaches and coastal areas.
