Presidents of Russia and Indonesia discuss prospects for strategic partnership at Kremlin
Talks were held in Moscow between the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who arrived in the Russian capital on a working visit. The leaders discussed projects in the fields of nuclear energy, industry, and education. This was reported on the Kremlin website.
"Trade and economic ties with Indonesia are developing at a good pace. Over the first nine months of the current year – plus 17 per cent. We have very good prospects in the field of energy, including nuclear generation. I know that your country has such plans, and we, if you consider it possible to involve our specialists, are always at your disposal"![]()

The head of the Russian state noted that in the area of agriculture there is a surplus in favour of Indonesia. Putin also emphasised that tourist flows are increasing on both sides. This is facilitated by direct air services as well as visa service benefits.
Separately, the President added that Russia is very pleased with Indonesia’s accession to BRICS as a full member of the group. Negotiations are also under way with the Republic and the EAEU on the creation of a free trade zone.
Prabowo Subianto, for his part, confirmed the active development of the dialogue.
"At present, we are witnessing a very active growth in Russian-Indonesian bilateral relations. […] Over the past few months, I have received in Jakarta a whole range of Russian delegations … We have managed to conduct a very substantive and constructive dialogue"![]()

The Indonesian President also invited Vladimir Putin to pay an official visit to Jakarta in 2026 or 2027. The Russian leader accepted the invitation.
The meeting took place in the year marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
