The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides to strengthen its embassies in Africa
Russia considers it necessary to strengthen the composition of its embassies in Africa, especially in connection with the upcoming Russia-Africa summit, Oleg Ozerov, Ambassador-at-Large and Head of the Secretariat of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow would increase the number of diplomatic missions in Africa, Asia and the CIS.
"We are preparing the second Russia-Africa summit. Strengthening our embassies would be extremely useful in this regard," Ozerov said.
According to him, preparations for the summit are still underway, with dates and location yet to be determined. Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, told reporters that the summit was being discussed with African partners to make a joint decision, as reported by RIA Novosti.
