Vintage Cars Show Held in New Delhi
Nearly 100 vintage autos released in different countries and years, including multi-colored limousines, coupes and cabriolets, participated in the event, the TASS reports. The cars were aligned in front of the Statesman House in the city center, close to Connaught Place.
The number one car to enter the track was a 1914 John Morris fire engine. The car is still on the run and stored in the National Railway Museum. Other rarities include 1920 Citroën, 1927 Lanchester, 1927 Chevrolet, 1928 Austin, 1928 Rolls-Royce, and others.
The cars competed in four categories: "Vintage", "Auto Classic", the "Post-War Cars" (manufactured after World War II) and "Other". The requirements to participants are very strict, and not everyone was allowed . The jury examined each car in several parameters: body and engine condition, restoration quality, authenticity of all details, and rarity of the car.
The number of participants is growing constantly. Last year, 63 vintage cars were allowed to competition, and this year, their number is 94. The participants of the event regret that cars from Russia and USSR have not been presented at the show.
"Here you can find cars manufactured in India, England, France, Italy, Germany, and other countries, but no Russian and Soviet vehicles", one of the judges said. The organizers of the event hope that over the coming years, cars from Russia will also participate in the show.
