My India. Protecting crocodiles
India is strengthening its efforts in wildlife conservation through initiatives focused on protecting endangered reptile species and preserving fragile ecosystems. Near Tamil Nadu’s coastal region, the Madras Crocodile Bank has emerged as one of Asia’s leading centres for crocodile and reptile conservation, dedicated to breeding, research, and environmental awareness. Established to safeguard endangered crocodiles and gharials, the centre is now home to a wide range of reptile species and plays an important role in supporting wildlife populations through conservation programmes and public education.
