Chile’s apple exports set for steady growth in 2026 season
The sector is advancing a strategy centred on varietal renewal and quality improvement to reinforce its position in international markets
Chile’s apple export sector is projected to increase by 2 per cent in the 2026 season, reaching 580,867 tonnes, as reported by El Maipo, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to experts, Gala apples are forecast at 246,510 tonnes, an increase of 5 per cent. Fuji apples are projected at 123,324 tonnes. Non-club red apple varieties are projected at 41,954 tonnes, an increase of 34 per cent. Green club varieties are projected to increase by 16 per cent.
Within premium segments, overall volumes are expected to adjust slightly, with certified high-grade apples maintaining relative stability at 89,011 tonnes. Industry specialists highlight that this reflects a strategic emphasis on value-added fruit and consistent quality performance rather than volume expansion.
According to industry representatives, the initial forecast reflects current production conditions and ongoing monitoring of the harvest. They noted that the sector continues to adapt to international requirements related to quality, condition, and traceability, while exporters prepare for key destination markets.
