TV BRICS to bring together international experts to assess 20 years of BRICS
A series of cultural, educational and diplomatic events will take place at the BRICS+ Media Centre during the BRICS Anniversary Week
The BRICS Anniversary Week opens in Moscow on 15 June. A programme of cultural, educational and diplomatic events will be held at the BRICS+ Media Centre, reviewing two decades of the group’s work in both humanitarian and economic areas. The project is organised by the TV BRICS International Media Network and the M. I. Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature.
"The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre is once again becoming a platform for constructive dialogue among experts from different countries and for developing common positions on current issues of interstate cooperation. The professional opinions and conclusions presented during the Anniversary Week will form the basis of news and analytical materials prepared by media outlets that are partners of TV BRICS. In this way, the consolidated BRICS agenda will be enriched with valuable insights, expertise and statistics, enabling a comprehensive assessment of the group’s prospects and the identification of new opportunities for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals"![]()

The programme of events will begin on Monday with a discussion on literary creativity and the publishing industry in the BRICS countries and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) during a presentation by the Ves Mir Publishers. The central event of the Anniversary Week will be the panel session “BRICS – 20 years: Results, Achievements and Prospects for Cooperation”. It will take place on Tuesday, 16 June, with the participation of representatives of the business community, the public and government institutions, as well as scientific and academic circles. Speakers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will join the discussion. The session is expected to address the role of BRICS in transforming the contemporary international architecture, strengthening economic, humanitarian and educational ties, issues of technological development, media and public diplomacy, and expanding cooperation with countries of the Global South.
“Today, BRICS is very different from what it was in the early years of its existence. It is not only a matter of growth in scale. The key point is how much has been created through joint efforts. It is no longer merely a platform for dialogue, and the New Development Bank is a vivid example of this. Established by the BRICS countries, it operates on terms that reflect the real needs of the Global South. And this is truly delivering results. The direction set at recent summits, particularly the Kazan Summit in 2024, demonstrates that the BRICS countries have chosen to focus on the Global South, not merely to declare intentions but to create mechanisms for their implementation,” said Sameep Shastri, Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (India).
On Wednesday, 17 June, the thematic session “Media and BRICS: Building a Common Information Space” will bring together media representatives from different countries to exchange experiences and expert views on the development of cooperation in the field of mass communications. On 18 June, a ceremonial reception will be held with the participation of the diplomatic corps. On 19 June, a lecture entitled “BRICS as a Phenomenon of the Multipolar World: Origins, Stages of Development and Prospects” will take place. The Anniversary Week will conclude on 20 June with a masterclass on traditional Indian Madhubani painting, led by Anjali Singh, an artist from the Mithila Art Institute and a member of Bizhar Heritage, an organisation promoting Indian handmade art and craftsmanship.
“It is a great honour for me to participate in a forum dedicated to the 20th anniversary of BRICS. Throughout its history, the BRICS group has undergone tremendous changes. It has gradually evolved from a platform for economic dialogue into an important force contributing to the positive development of the international order. The member countries have also fully demonstrated that the core values of BRICS are unity and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, and mutually beneficial outcomes. The participants and partners of the group have consistently adhered to the principles of multilateralism and fair and reasonable rules of international engagement, steadily advancing cooperation in such areas as trade and investment, technological innovation, and cultural and educational exchanges. This pragmatic, inclusive and long-term cooperation model has become a cornerstone of global economic and international relations,” noted Wang Weipeng, Resident of the BRICS Incubation Park (China).
The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre was established at the M. I. Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature during Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship year, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Book Union.
