More than 20 countries strengthens humanitarian agenda through BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre in Moscow

Over 75 events have been held there in a year

More than 20 countries have raised issues of international cooperation at the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre, established in 2024 in Moscow by the M. I. Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature and the TV BRICS International Media Network. During its first year of operation, the centre has shaped the humanitarian agenda of the BRICS member states and partner countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, as well as other nations such as Argentina, Zimbabwe, Mauritania, Mexico, Oman, Tunisia, Turkey, and Chile.

"In the context of information confrontation, which has, unfortunately, become a norm in modern international relations, it is particularly important to build constructive engagement with partners, exchange opinions freely, and build bridges of friendship and mutual understanding. Strengthening ties in the humanitarian sphere contributes to this above all. The events organised by the BRICS+ Media Centre make a tangible contribution to this task. As the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are always ready to support your initiatives and maintain an open dialogue with experts from various countries on international issues. I am confident that this will help spread accurate information about the BRICS group in the global media space"
Maria Zakharova

In October 2024, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs took part in the opening of the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre.

Since its launch, more than 75 events of various formats have taken place at the BRICS+ Media Centre, including press conferences, teleconferences, film screenings, cultural evenings, creative meetings, expert sessions, lectures and master classes, as well as presentations of contemporary literature and authors’ translations of Russian classics into foreign languages.

"The TV BRICS International Media Network not only shapes the international agenda based on information provided by national media of BRICS+ countries but also initiates its own practical humanitarian projects. One of them is the BRICS+ Media Centre. It is a new and unconventional tool for positioning and promoting national culture and contemporary achievements in education, culture, and the arts, and for upholding the philosophy of universal human values. It is a platform for dialogue, a tribune from which a statement can be made to a wide global audience. This is the uniqueness of the media centre, ensured by TV BRICS and its media partners in various countries"

Events at the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre are attended by distinguished experts and prominent political and public figures. Among them are First Lady of Brazil Janja Lula da Silva; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov; Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova; Chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society and President of the Russian Book Union Sergey Stepashin; General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina; Director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Rozental; Head of the Cultural Representation at the Iranian Embassy in Russia, Masoud Ahmadvand; Rector of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) Grigory Zaslavsky; composer Zuo Zhenguan; world-renowned Turkish flautist Sefika Kutluer; famous Iranian musician and singer Hamid Reza Dadoo, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions and heads of leading BRICS+ media outlets.

"Over the year, the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre has become a universal platform for building intercultural dialogue, proving its relevance and strategic importance. This is evidenced by the large number of successful events held here and the participation of respected specialists and guests from various countries. I am confident that the media centre will continue to serve as a pillar for preserving multipolar culture, popularising scientific heritage and developing humanitarian cooperation between BRICS member states and partner countries"

The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre is equipped with modern facilities that allow for high-quality video communication with different countries, live broadcasts, and both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation.

The BRICS+ Media Centre was established during Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship Year with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Book Union.
