Oman's net electricity generation increased by almost 5% in January–July 2026

Total electricity generation in Oman exceeded 31,000 gigawatt-hours as of July 2026. This is 4.5 per cent more than in the same period of 2025, when the figure stood at just over 30,000 gigawatt-hours. This was reported by Al Shabiba, citing data from Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Net electricity generation takes into account supplies through two channels: the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company. Its volume increased by 4.9 per cent to more than 30,000 gigawatt-hours. A year earlier, the figure stood at 29,000 gigawatt-hours.
The most significant increase in total electricity generation was recorded in Muscat Governorate, at 197.4 per cent. In Ad Dakhiliyah, the increase was 41.8 per cent, in Al Wusta – 8 per cent, and in Dhofar – 5.4 per cent. In North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah governorates, growth stood at 5.6 per cent.
Muscat also led in terms of net electricity generation, with an increase of 197 per cent. It was followed by Ad Dakhiliyah (+42 per cent), Dhofar (+8.8 per cent), Al Wusta (+8.7 per cent), as well as North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah (+5.5 per cent).
Dhofar Governorate recorded a 3.6 per cent increase in water production. In the first seven months of 2026, more than 45,000 cubic metres were produced there, compared with just over 44,000 cubic metres in the same period of 2025.
