Thailand launches programme to expand public access to AI tools
The programme is being implemented by Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society

The Thai Government has launched a programme providing the public with free access to commercial artificial intelligence (AI) tools. In less than two weeks, more than 1.3 million people have pre-registered. This was reported by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a TV BRICS partner.
The programme, called TH-AI Passport, is designed to involve 5 million people. The platform brings together more than 30 AI models developed by over 14 providers, as well as offering training and digital skills development programmes. The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which is responsible for developing Thailand's digital economy.
The ministry said that the rapid registration of more than 1 million people demonstrates strong public interest in new technologies. Those who have registered include students and entrepreneurs from various regions of the country.
According to data provided by the ministry, around 12.4 per cent of working-age Thais used generative AI in the first quarter of 2026. A year earlier, the figure for the same period was 9.1 per cent.
Thailand's Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaichanok Chidchob noted the growing role of AI in the economy, labour market, education and public services. According to the minister, preparing people for these changes is one of the key objectives of the National AI Action Plan for 2022–2027.
The TH-AI Passport programme is intended to help citizens master AI tools and learn how to apply the technology in education, work and economic activities.
