India and Indonesia have signed 20 memoranda of cooperation. Key agreements include the development of rare-earth metal processing, cooperation in space research, and the establishment of a branch of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, in Indonesia. This was reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreements were reached following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Indonesia and talks with the country’s President, Prabowo Subianto.

Significant attention was paid to critical minerals and rare-earth elements: the countries will jointly develop the extraction and processing of raw materials and create more sustainable supply chains.

In the industrial sector, Indian and Indonesian companies have agreed to establish a stainless steel production facility in Indonesia, which is expected to boost industrial growth and create new jobs.

The countries have also expanded their framework agreement on cooperation in the peaceful exploration of space, continuing joint research, technology exchange and the training of specialists.

In the field of agriculture, the parties have agreed to develop joint projects on sustainable farming, agricultural technologies and increasing farmers’ incomes. India will also supply Indonesia with 100 tonnes of high-quality wheat seeds to support the country’s food security.

In the health sector, India and Indonesia will exchange expertise on the regulation of medical devices and expand cooperation between medical professionals, including training programmes and staff exchanges.

Furthermore, the countries have agreed to cooperate on emergency management, the use of early warning technologies and disaster response.

India and Indonesia will also cooperate in the fields of telecommunications, quantum technologies, digital infrastructure and support for start-ups. For example, India’s unified digital trade network serves as a model for the development of a similar system in Indonesia.

Next year will be designated as the Year of Cultural and Educational Diplomacy. Joint educational, cultural and academic events, as well as exchanges between students, lecturers and researchers, are planned.

India will provide assistance in the conservation and restoration of the Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta, which will form part of efforts to strengthen the shared historical heritage of the two nations. A branch of the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore will be established in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone in Indonesia.
