The southern Iranian province shipped 4,500 tonnes of farmed shrimp and 2,000 tonnes of fish during the first three months of the current Iranian year
Bushehr Province exported 4,500 tonnes of farmed shrimp and 2,000 tonnes of fish worth between US$100 million and US$150 million during the first three months of the Iranian calendar year, which began on 21 March 2026. This was reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The province has continued to expand its aquaculture capacity. In the previous year, 2.4 billion shrimp larvae were produced across 4,980 hectares of farming ponds, resulting in more than 30,000 tonnes of harvested shrimp. Around 20,000 tonnes were exported, while the remainder was supplied to the domestic market.
Exports of other aquatic products reached approximately 4,500 tonnes over the same period. China is the province's main destination for fish exports, while Russia accounts for a significant share of shrimp shipments.
Aquaculture development in Iran is supported by the modernisation of farming infrastructure and measures aimed at strengthening production.
Shrimp farming remains an important part of the province's agricultural and export potential. Approximately 3,750 hectares of aquaculture farms have already been stocked with shrimp larvae, laying the foundation for the next production cycle.
Growing production capacity and established trade links with major international markets are creating further opportunities for the province's aquatic products.
