Indonesia and China to boost cooperation in artificial intelligence and microchip manufacturing

Indonesia and China intend to move forward with joint projects in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. To coordinate this work, the countries will set up a special working group, according to ANTARA.
The parties plan to exchange technology and expertise, carry out joint projects in the field of artificial intelligence, and foster cooperation between industrial and technology companies in both countries.
Particular attention is to be paid to the production of semiconductors and microchips. Indonesia and China are exploring the possibility of using Indonesia’s critical minerals to develop this sector.
Indonesia also intends to use its membership of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (WAICO) to help shape global approaches to the regulation and governance of AI technologies.
According to Indonesia’s Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Affairs, Angga Raka Prabowo, cooperation must be mutually beneficial and take into account the national interests of both countries.
