Brazilian airports handled 11.9 million passengers in July 2026, marking the highest figure for that month since records began in 2000. This was reported on the country’s government website, citing data from the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
Nationwide, domestic traffic rose by 1.9 per cent, while international traffic increased by 4.2 per cent.
Air freight also showed positive growth: in July, the domestic market grew by 5.2 per cent, whilst the international market rose by 8.4 per cent.
South-eastern Brazil saw an increase in air traffic volumes between January and July 2026. Over the seven-month period, 37 million passengers passed through the region’s airports – 3.1 per cent more than in the same period of 2025, when the figure stood at 35.9 million.
More significant growth was recorded in freight transport in the south-eastern region. In July, the volume of freight carried totalled 56.8 million kg, which is 4.8 per cent more than a year earlier – 54.2 million kg. Since the start of the year, the volume of air freight in the region has reached 373.6 million kg, an increase of 1.1 per cent compared with 369.3 million kg for the first seven months of 2025.
The south-east of the country remains one of Brazil’s key air transport hubs, accounting for a significant proportion of both passenger and cargo traffic.
